Edwin Nathaniel Seger
(Born January 13, 1906: Died October 11, 1986 in Milwaukee, WI)

Edwin was born "under the kitchen sink" in Merrill in 1906. At an early
age he learned tailoring. He studied music under his brother, Linus, learning to play the clarinet, violin, cello and drums. From 1920 to 1923 he worked with his father in construction. Then he joined the Army Air Force. He spend four summers with the Sterling Brothers Band and in farming at Bill Berard's farm in Wausau. Later he was a tailor in Denver, after which he returned to Wisconsin to become an attendant at the Milwaukee Mental Sanatarium in Wauwatosa. While in Denver, he was married to an Edna Mae (last name unknown), but this lasted only for a short time (he couldn't support her in the style she wanted during the Depression). For three years in the 1940's he was a caretaker at the Y.M.C.A. camp at Phantom Lake WI and worked for Waukesha Motors.

From 1947 to 1975 he was a product expediter at the Heir Co. in Milwaukee. He was a graduate of the DeForest Electronics School in Chicago. On July 15, 1948 he married Margaret Sophia Marx. Although he and Margaret had no children, they were foster parents for more than 10 years to Donna Kelly, a retarded child with cerebral palsy, and for five years to Kenneth Kelley, an emotionally unstable child with retarded growth. Edwin retired in 1975. For most of his later life he suffered from heart disease and diabetes, which caused blindness and immobility. He died October 11, 1986. 79 years, 261 days. Margaret died in 2000.
